Surgical Approach

Minimally Invasive & Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery — San Diego

Minimally invasive, outpatient orthopedic surgery in San Diego — smaller incisions, faster recovery, and same-day discharge for appropriate cases.

Overview

A closer look

When surgery is the right answer, most orthopedic procedures today can be done through small incisions on an outpatient basis. Dr. Sidney H. Levine performs the full range of minimally invasive orthopedic surgery for San Diego patients — knee and shoulder arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, and select fracture fixation — with same-day discharge and quicker return to activity for appropriate cases. Every surgical patient is personally evaluated, counseled, operated on, and followed by Dr. Levine himself.

What to expect

Your first visit

Surgery is scheduled after a full discussion of options, expected benefit, risks, alternatives, and recovery. Most cases are performed at an ambulatory surgical center on an outpatient basis, with same-day discharge. You'll receive detailed pre- and post-op instructions and prompt follow-up.

Recovery

What healing looks like

Arthroscopic knee procedures often allow desk work in a week and driving within days. Carpal tunnel release patients typically resume light activity almost immediately. Rotator cuff and ligament reconstructions require structured, longer rehab. Dr. Levine will set specific expectations for your procedure.
